Authentic high fidelity

Surely, now, we can avoid myth, fantasy, and faith in the selection of hi-fi devices.

For example, Fosi Audio have announced the V3 Mono amplifier, which is a diminutive monoblock with outstanding performance, as demonstrated by the measurements done for Audio Science Review.

At NZ$525 for a pair, compare that to my monoblocks which cost around NZ$10,000 a few years ago.

Along with Topping and WiiM, we can now buy proven outstanding performance at surprisingly reasonable prices.

Intriguingly, this raises the possibility of upgrading whilst downsizing, resulting in the release of capital!

Hi-fi choices are made by considering the information provided by makers, alongside the opinions of third party reviews, and audition.

Information provided to motivate purchase and assert valuations is always going to be in need of careful scrutiny.

I prefer factual – that is honest disclosure – description as the basis for comparison and evaluation. I know that I get a better product and greater value for money when there’s no hype or deception.

I sense we are already entering the era of fidelity in the marketing of hi-fi audio by some sellers. Buyer beware, as always. The challenge is ever more so to find the clever good guys.

They’re the audio engineers who love music and apply their expertise to avoid the complicated, exhibitionist ostentation to create modest and unpretentious quality.

The Fosi V3 will be available to buy from Amazon Australia in June, and I’ve received an invitation to support it’s launch via some Kickstarter special offers, and several reviewers have received sample units to try out. Interesting that Kickstarter was originally an alternative way to fund new product launch, but now seems to be an alternative distribution channel to retail for some buyers, with an early bird discount.
