I collect lots of music new to me, influenced by artwork, song titles, album title, who’s playing with whom. And I am a Sade fan – she is a great artist, and I love the sound design on all of her albums.
I find many artists who make enjoyable and fascinating music, but probably not much money or brand endorsement. They are talented and creative, and mostly not famous.
The advice given in the article is pretty much what I’ve been doing for 40+ years (without the joints!). The trick is to find others to talk ‘music composed and played as art’ with, and to avoid all music presented/performed as product.
Very silly but quite entertaining. Thanks Richard!

Fair enough too. I guess I wonder whether the article would be read by anyone who doesn’t already know these things.
