The gift of music

This artwork, the acid jazz categorisation, and the limited edition of 5000 designation grabbed my attention. And that name – Kevorkian – seemed familiar somehow.

It’s an unusual and also excellent jazz album, with some of the deepest bass I’ve heard from a CD.

The band – the Morpheus Trio + two others – are superb players, and Jack Kevorkian’s quirky flute and organ and an oddness that’s quite enjoyable.

So, it turns out that this is quite a rare album. It’s claimed on Wikipedia that it has sold as s collector’s item for US$400. I paid NZ$1 for it.

And Kevorkian was known infamously as Dr Death – a physician, he advocated and practised assisted suicide.

Highly recommended. Did I say that this was his only album?, and he composed the music.
