I’m one of the baby boomers who was carried along on the hi-fi boom of the 1970s that had affordable products readily available. More than that was the tidal wave of great music. My education as a teenager was extended by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash, and much more.
Listening to music was a social thing with friends. Now it’s mostly an escape into solitary ‘me time’.
I don’t know of any youngsters who want gear, or to sit listening to music and talking as fans, or to build a library.
Those gadgets mentioned in this article may be “too much stuff” for their mindset.
