Recording pioneer and immodest publicist

Enoch Light was a key figure in recording studio techniques and issued many recordings on his Project 3 label, including this double album of instrumental renditions of ‘big hit’ popular songs from the early 1970s.

But modest he was not. This album features “many of the world’s greatest musicians” (actually, Tony Mottola, Dick Hyman, Urbie Green, The Nashville Jets, The Brass Ring, and – of course – Enoch light & The Light Brigade – on the back cover, all described as “some of America’s finest musicians).

There’s more. “This album contains a fantastic, dynamic and colorful presentation of the music of today” (1974). And “Webelieve  that there is no album in the music world of today which presents a more comprehensive and exciting sonic picture of our times”. How could I possibly resist this $1 addition to my library?
