RIP Clive Brooks

I just heard that former drummer for Egg and Groundhogs has died. I met him in Hull many years ago when I saw Groundhogs play live at the City Hall. He and Tony McPhee and Peter Cruickshank autographed the cover of my copy of their 1972 Hogwash album. I remember being mightily impressed by his drumming (I was 17 at the time).

As a side note, this album is notable for McPhee’s experimentation with the ARP Synthesiser and Mellotron. His roots were in American blues. Also for the massive amplifier and speaker system he used in those days. I recall it was a loud concert.
